Class of 1965 - 40th Class Reunion

The 40th Class Reunion Committee hopes everyone had a great time at the reunion. We estimate that Saturday night there were 205 classmates and spouses/friends (and one mother) in attendance. There were at least that many who attended on Friday evening. The event at the Paramount Theatre was excellent and a big thanks to Charlie Averbook who gave a rousing plea at the Saturday dinner/dance for contributions to the Paramount Theatre. We raised $1,400.00 that night for the Paramount. Our class is also donating $250.00 to the Austin High School Alumni Fund and $250.00 to the Austin High School Athletic Field restoration project. And we have money left over to get a good start on our next reunion. Presently, the committee is energized to host a reunion just 5 years from now. We would appreciate your ideas and suggestions for the next reunion.

By the way, as to the Trivia Contest, Austin's mayor was Fayette Sherman - not Roger Svejkovsky. David Gibson says that Barkoff's was an additional pool hall in Austin in 1965. Also, Herbie Swenson's passing wasn't mention (RIP).

Several people didn't catch who it was that gave that beautiful grace on Saturday night. She was Paula Martinson - nee DeFor. Thank you, Paula.

Fred Robinson's company, TECSTRA, donated its expertise and staff to create and develop the Class Reunion website. Note that the site is for the use of all Austin High School classes. Great contribution and it was a huge undertaking. A very big “Thank You” to Fred, his staff, and especially Brad Tapp (who did much of the work in creating the site). (Carmel updated the information and photos regarding our class - Thank You, Carmel.)

What awesome, thoughtful classmates we all have. Three of them donated money the Friday night of the reunion specifically so that the reunion committee could treat itself to a post-reunion gathering. And we did. We had pizza at George's and we started laying plans to regroup in three and a half years for a 45th Class Reunion. We also discussed just how handsome and beautiful we all still are!
